DIG’s Son Injures Woman in Car Accident While Allegedly Intoxicated
KARACHI: After months of controversy surrounding viral videos, the son of Rapid Response Force Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Azfar Mahesar, Asher Mahesar, is once again in the spotlight. This time, he is accused of injuring a woman in a car accident while allegedly intoxicated.
According to police, Asher Mahesar was driving a government vehicle with two police officers in Karachi’s Garden area when he struck a woman, leaving her seriously injured.
Sources suggest that Asher was under the influence at the time of the incident, and the armed escorts accompanying him fired shots into the air to disperse a crowd that had gathered around the scene.
Asher, along with DIG’s nephew Mubashir Raza and two members of the Rapid Response Force, has been arrested and transferred to the appropriate police station. The injured woman has been taken to Civil Hospital for treatment.
Last year, Asher Mahesar made headlines when videos of him brandishing firearms, including assault rifles and handguns, and firing shots in the air while driving, went viral. This prompted an investigation by Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon, who ordered a probe into the actions of the then DIG East’s son.
At the time, the senior officer dismissed the videos as a smear campaign against his son, insisting that Asher was not involved in any criminal activity.
