KARACHI: In response to heightened security concerns, authorities have ramped up security around Karachi International Airport, causing significant inconvenience for both visitors and local residents.
According to police officials, additional security measures have been implemented, including the closure of the road from Model Colony to Jinnah Terminal. The deployment of police officers at Star Gate and along the route from Pehlwan Goth to the airport is part of these efforts.
Traffic is being redirected from Model Colony to Shahrah e Faisal, and the closure of the road leading to Jinnah Terminal has disrupted the flow of traffic on Model Colony Road.
Airline staff, passengers, and airport employees are facing challenges reaching the airport due to these road closures, while surrounding streets remain congested.
It is also noteworthy that the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) recently imposed new regulations for airport visitors. Under the new rules, only four people are allowed to accompany a passenger, and visitors must present a valid ticket to gain access to the airport.
In light of a recent terrorist attack targeting Chinese nationals near the airport, the PAA is also implementing stricter entry protocols to ensure enhanced security at Karachi’s Jinnah International Airport.
