Four civilians shot dead by dacoits in Rahim Yar Khan

RAHIM YAR KHAN – Four citizens were killed by dacoits in Basti Lashari, within the Zahir Pir police station limits, on Monday.

Upon receiving reports of dacoits linked to the Andhar, Shar, and Kosh gangs, police initiated an operation to apprehend the suspects. An intense exchange of gunfire between the police and the dacoits is ongoing.

Under the supervision of DSP Khanpur Azhar Iqbal and DSP Sadar Circle Khalid Mahmood, police teams are working diligently to encircle the suspects and ensure their capture, according to a Punjab police spokesperson. The spokesperson expressed confidence that the assailants would soon be apprehended.

Earlier, Punjab Inspector General of Police Dr. Usman Anwar took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from the Regional Police Officer (RPO) Bahawalpur. He instructed the District Police Officer (DPO) Rahim Yar Khan to expedite the arrest of those involved.

Senior police officials, along with the Crime Scene Unit and forensic teams, reached the crime scene to gather evidence.

DPO Rahim Yar Khan strongly condemned the tragic incident, emphasizing that the loss of innocent lives is heartbreaking. He assured the public that the culprits would be brought to justice swiftly.
