On Saturday, the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) issued a notice informing customers about a temporary suspension of gas services in certain parts of Karachi on December 14 and 15. The outage is necessary to allow employees an eight-hour break to carry out work related to the City BRT project.
According to an official statement, the gas supply will be interrupted from 10:00 PM on December 14 until 6:00 AM on December 15, as a 12-inch high-pressure gas pipeline needs to be relocated in the Peoples Chowrangi area.
Several key institutions will be impacted by the outage, including Agha Khan University Hospital, Liaquat National Hospital, and Saylani Welfare Trust Kitchen. Domestic customers in the area have also been experiencing limited gas supply due to ongoing nighttime profiling measures.
SSGC stressed that the pipeline relocation is crucial to support infrastructure improvements for the BRT project. The company expressed regret for any inconvenience caused and urged citizens and businesses in the affected areas to prepare for the temporary disruption and plan accordingly.
