Government declares a public holiday on February 5

The federal government has declared a public holiday across the country on Wednesday (February 5) to observe Kashmir Solidarity Day.

An official notification was issued by the Cabinet Division confirming the nationwide holiday.

Observed annually, Kashmir Solidarity Day reaffirms Pakistan’s steadfast support for the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir in their struggle for self-determination.

The day will be marked with rallies, seminars, and human chains to highlight the hardships faced by Kashmiris and to condemn human rights violations in the region.

Public and private institutions, including schools and offices, will remain closed, while special prayers and events will be held in honour of Kashmiri sacrifices.

Additionally, all banks across Pakistan will observe a holiday on Wednesday, as per a notification from the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), following the federal government’s directive.
