The Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted bail to former Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Toshakhana 2.0 case on Wednesday, ordering his immediate release from jail.
Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb approved Khan’s bail application, requiring two surety bonds of Rs1 million each, to be provided by separate guarantors.
This ruling comes after a special court in Islamabad last week rejected acquittal requests from Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, in the case. The court, led by Judge Shahrukh Arjumand, set the date for formal charges to be framed on November 18.
The case involves allegations that Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi unlawfully retained state gifts without fulfilling the legal requirements.
Meanwhile, the Lahore High Court (LHC) rejected Khan’s request for interim bail in all the cases filed against him. During the hearing, the Punjab Home Department clarified that no cases were registered against Khan within the province, while the federal government’s lawyer revealed that Islamabad police had filed 62 cases against the PTI leader.
