Imran Khan Not in the Running for Oxford University Chancellor Position

PTI founder Imran Khan is not in the running for the chancellorship of Oxford University.

The university has announced a list of 38 eligible candidates for the election, but Imran Khan is notably absent from this list.

According to the university administration, this marks the first time open applications have been invited, and the chancellor election committee evaluated all submissions in accordance with regulations.

The initial round of voting is scheduled for October 28, where voters will cast their ballots. The top five candidates will advance to the second round of voting.

This election follows the retirement announcement of Lord Patten of Barnes, and it will be the university’s first-ever chancellor election based on online popularity, with former students invited to rank the candidates.

Other candidates include Lord William Hague, Lord Peter Mandelson, Lady Elish Angiolini, and Dr. Margaret.

Earlier, Imran Khan had filed nomination papers to contest for the chancellorship of Oxford University. PTI leader Zulfikar Bukhari shared on X, “As per Imran Khan’s instructions, his application form for the Oxford University Chancellor Election 2024 has been submitted. We look forward to everyone’s support for a historic campaign.”

Previously, the former cricket star served as the chancellor of the University of Bradford from 2005 to 2014.
