Imran Khan, founding chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has firmly instructed his party to resist any compromise on the release of prisoners as negotiations with the government progress.
The directive was issued during a meeting with PTI negotiation committee members, Barrister Ali Zafar and Suleman Akram Raja, at Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail, as reported by Express News.
The meeting, held ahead of the second round of talks scheduled later today, focused on finalizing PTI’s strategy for the negotiations.
Speaking briefly to the media after the meeting, Suleman Akram Raja reiterated the party’s unwavering position. “We remain firm on our stance and optimistic about the success of the talks,” he stated.
After the meeting, the committee members departed to prepare for the upcoming negotiation round.
Imran Khan emphasized that no concessions should be made under pressure regarding the prisoner release issue, which remains a central point in the ongoing political discussions.
This second round of talks is seen as a critical juncture following the initial discussions on December 23, where both sides agreed to continue negotiations.
The government’s delegation, led by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, includes prominent figures such as Senator Irfan Siddiqui and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, among others.
