A potential disaster was narrowly avoided at Islamabad International Airport when a flight from Dubai encountered an unexpected runway obstruction.
The incident occurred as the plane, carrying over 250 passengers, was preparing to land on runway 28L. According to airport sources, a stray dog suddenly appeared on the runway, prompting Air Traffic Control (ATC) to alert the pilot. In response, the captain aborted the landing and circled the aircraft to ensure passenger safety.
Although airport staff quickly dispatched a team to clear the runway, the dog reappeared on another section, causing further delays. Once the area was secured, the captain safely landed the aircraft on the second attempt, averting any mishap.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine how the dog accessed the runway and are working to strengthen security measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
