LAHORE: Senior Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Javed Latif stated that if PTI founder Imran Khan is to be released, then the current government should be jailed.
Speaking on ARY News’ program “KHABAR Muhammad Malick Kay Saath,” Javed Latif remarked that negotiations between the government and PTI will either result in complete success or outright failure.
He acknowledged international pressure surrounding PTI but raised questions about the motives behind it. Latif pointed out that there’s “no such thing as a free lunch,” suggesting that international powers likely have vested interests in securing Imran Khan’s release, and time will reveal what concessions Khan might offer in return.
Latif reiterated his stance that releasing Imran Khan should mean imprisoning the current government.
Meanwhile, PTI spokesperson Raoof Hasan claimed that the establishment is indirectly involved in negotiations with PTI, which began earlier today.
Speaking on the same program, Hasan revealed that PTI has put forth two major demands: the release of all political prisoners, including Imran Khan, and the formation of a judicial commission to probe the incidents of May 9 and November 26.
He clarified that these talks are not with the federal government but with the establishment, which he asserted holds the real power. Hasan emphasized the behind-the-scenes role of the establishment in discussions with PTI.
