Karachi Intermediate Board Chairman Dismissed Following Results Controversy

KARACHI: Ameer Qadri, Chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK), has been removed from his position following a controversy over the recent exam results, ARY News reported.

A notification confirmed that Qadri has been dismissed, and Chairman of the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK), Sharf Ali, will take over his duties temporarily.

Additionally, Qadri has been asked to explain his unauthorized foreign trip. The decision to sack the BIEK Chairman came after the approval of Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, who also oversees the education portfolio.

The controversy erupted after numerous students from the pre-engineering and pre-medical groups of the intermediate exams failed. Many of these students are now submitting scrutiny forms at the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK).

Disappointed with the results, the students expressed frustration, claiming that their hopes have been dashed. They accused the board of intentionally manipulating the results, with students who had scored above 80 to 85 percent in matriculation being given less than 50 percent marks. The protesting students also stated that they had failed in multiple subjects.
