Karachi Police Search for Missing Madrassa Student Sarim
KARACHI: Authorities are intensifying their efforts to locate seven-year-old Sarim, a madrassa student who went missing from North Nazimabad approximately 48 hours ago, ARY News reported on Thursday.
Despite extensive searches, Sarim’s whereabouts remain unknown. His father has reportedly received suspicious calls and messages from unknown numbers, with some demanding online money transfers and one caller requesting the child’s photograph. After the father sent a picture, the number was switched off.
The police traced these numbers to various cities in Punjab and Balochistan but found no direct connection to the case. A thorough search operation in the apartment complex and nearby areas has also yielded no significant leads.
Investigators suggest that Sarim might have left with someone he knew, as no signs of resistance or disturbance have been discovered. Unfortunately, the apartment complex’s CCTV cameras were non-functional at the time due to a power outage.
An FIR has been registered, and police suspect abduction. The madrassa teacher claimed that Sarim left with his elder brother after class, but the family asserts that only the elder brother returned home.
Sarim’s mother made an emotional appeal through ARY News, pleading, “Whoever has taken my son, please return him.” She added that both her sons went to the madrassa together, but Sarim did not come back.
The search continues as the police work to uncover any clues that could lead to Sarim’s safe return.
