KARACHI: A key figure in the Lyari gang war, Daniyal alias Dani Pathan, has been arrested by Karachi Police in the Kalakot area.
DIG South Asad Raza reported that Daniyal is linked to serious criminal activities including extortion, terrorism, and multiple murders. His gang instilled fear across areas such as Pak Colony, Nazimabad, Lasbela, Soldier Bazaar, and Old Golimar.
Daniyal also engaged in drug trafficking, working with notorious gangs led by Riayasat Jadgal, Kashif Dada, and Sajid Majid. He supplied weapons and resources to criminals like Ali Dada, Rehmat, Abid, and Waseem Joji.
Investigations reveal that Daniyal sourced firearms online from Peshawar and was wanted for six murders and other crimes. DIG Raza mentioned that Daniyal, in collaboration with his uncle, killed a citizen in Golimar four years ago.
He is also responsible for the murder of a vegetable vendor during a shootout with Pak Colony police, as well as the killing of a shopkeeper’s son and a teacher in Old Golimar for refusing to pay extortion. Additionally, Daniyal was involved in the abduction and murder of a man suspected of being an informant.
Previously, Daniyal injured Sabir in Pak Colony during a shooting incident and later switched allegiance to the Sajid Majid group after a dispute with Riayasat Jadgal and Kashif Dada.
DIG Raza confirmed that raids are underway to capture other gang members. Daniyal was notorious for extorting businesses in Golimar Chowk. Police are ramping up efforts to dismantle the criminal network.

In August 2024, Karachi Police sought a red warrant notice for Wasiullah Lakho, the commander of the Lyari gang war. SSP City Arif Aziz wrote to DIG South Police requesting the issuance of the red warrant for Lakho’s arrest.
According to the letter, Lakho operated his gang while in Dubai and Iran, using phone calls to extort money from businessmen. Police traced all his calls to overseas numbers, where he threatened victims who refused to pay extortion money.
Lakho has been evading arrest and remains a most-wanted criminal in numerous cases. SSP City has urged authorities to issue the red notice for his arrest and to bring him before the court.
