MULTAN:
A man fatally shot his wife, two children, and then himself in a tragic incident on Thursday.
Maroof Khan, son of former Union Council Nazim Tariq Naeemullah and nephew of ex-PML-N MPA Shahid Mahmood Khan, committed the act at his residence in the DHA area.
According to police, the incident was triggered by a domestic dispute over financial matters and family property.
Sources revealed that Maroof had argued with his wife, 33-year-old Iqra Maroof, over returning family jewelry to his brother, Ahed Tariq.
In a fit of rage, Maroof took his wife and two children—5-year-old Alyan and 3-year-old Aryan—out in his car. He shot them inside the vehicle and then turned the gun on himself.
Rescue teams and law enforcement, including SSP Operations Kamran Aamir Khan and DSP Saddar Bakht Nasr, responded to reports of gunfire.
Both children were pronounced dead at the scene, while Maroof and Iqra were transported to Nishtar Hospital in critical condition. Tragically, they succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival.
The police have taken the bodies for autopsy and launched an investigation into the case. Initial findings suggest the tragedy was driven by disputes over land and jewelry.
The Khan family’s home at Chowk 9 had been a hub for political and social gatherings, with Maroof’s father, Tariq Naeemullah, remembered for his contributions during his tenure as Union Council Nazim.
Maroof’s grandfather, Khan Ashraf Khan, was a prominent figure in the Khaksar Tehreek and a founding member of the National Alliance.
