Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced on Thursday the expansion of the Honhaar Scholarship Programme to include students from other provinces.
During a meeting in Lahore, which featured a Vice-Chancellor Conference, a Tech Expo, and the official approval of the Hunarhar Scholarship for second, third, and fourth-year students, CM Maryam outlined key updates.
She directed the creation of a dedicated helpline for scholarship-related inquiries and increased the number of laptops available for students to 110,000.
Highlighting the importance of education and youth as the nation’s true assets, she expressed her desire for every child to receive a laptop. “The Honhaar Scholarship Programme and laptops are every student’s right and the government’s responsibility,” she said.
CM Maryam emphasized that students from Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were also considered part of their family. “I think like a mother. We aim to change the destiny of every child. Any student achieving merit should apply to a good college, and the government will cover the fees,” she stated.
Additionally, she set a minimum eligibility criterion of 65% marks for students to qualify for a laptop under the scheme.
