Maryam announces opening of scholarship registration.

LAHORE: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has taken another step toward fulfilling her promises by launching the registration process for the ‘Honahaar Scholarship Programme.’

“Alhamdulillah, I have delivered on another commitment made during my inaugural speech in the Assembly,” said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif as she kicked off the registration for the Honahaar Scholarship Programme.

She expressed, “This initiative will help realize the aspirations of youth pursuing higher education. It marks a significant milestone in ensuring access to quality education for all deserving and talented students.”

The chief minister noted, “Young people strive for higher education and improved employment opportunities. In line with the demands of the global job market, scholarships will be awarded to 30,000 students across 68 disciplines under the Honahaar Scholarship Programme.”

She highlighted that “these scholarships will be available for students from 50 public sector universities, 16 medical colleges, and 131 graduate colleges.”

Maryam also announced, “Merit-based scholarships will be offered to students at LUMS, FAST, COMSATS, NUST, Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute, and seven other leading private universities. A total of Rs130 billion will be allocated for scholarships over the next eight years, benefiting 120,000 students in the upcoming four years. Students can apply at honhaarscholarship.punjabhec.gov.pk.”

In addition, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has appointed MPA Salma Sadia Taimur as her focal person for the Garment City and Women Vocational Training Centres. According to a notification from the CM Office, Ms. Salma Sadia Taimur will oversee the establishment and operationalization of Garment City, ensuring high-quality training at the Women’s Vocational Training Centers. She will also provide regular updates to the chief minister on the progress of the Garment City project.

Furthermore, Maryam has taken notice of the rape of a girl student by a sub-inspector and a private security guard in Sargodha. The chief minister has requested a report from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and has ordered that the perpetrators be brought to justice promptly.
