Maulana Haideri warns of action if madrasah bill isn’t passed by Dec 8

Jamiat Ulema Islam-F (JUI-F) leader Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri warned on Friday that the party will take further action if the Madrasah Registration Bill is not passed by the federal government by December 8, as reported by Express News.

Haideri, who is also the General Secretary of JUI-F, stated that if the bill is not approved by the deadline, the party will march to Islamabad to protest. He acknowledged the country’s difficult situation but emphasized that religious leaders do not wish to escalate tensions with such actions.

He clarified that the issue extends beyond JUI-F and the madrassah federation, affecting all religious school organizations nationwide.

The bill, which concerns the registration and regulation of madrassahs, was passed by the National Assembly but returned by President Asif Ali Zardari without approval.

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has expressed dissatisfaction with President Zardari’s decision, criticizing his failure to support the bill.

In response, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari held a meeting with Rehman, but the issue remains unresolved.

Earlier, JUI-F leader Hamdullah expressed concerns, claiming that President Zardari’s refusal to sign the bill had essentially declared a “war” on religious schools.

Several JUI-F leaders are now demanding that the bill automatically become law after 10 days if not approved by the president, calling for the government to issue a gazette notification to confirm this.
