MDCAT test exposes fraudulent candidates

KARACHI: Two Imposters Arrested During MDCAT Test at IBA Karachi University

KARACHI: Police detained two individuals, Abdul Majeed and Qaiser Ali, for allegedly impersonating candidates in the MDCAT (Medical and Dental College Admission Test) held at IBA Karachi University, ARY News reported.

The test, conducted for medical college admissions in Sindh, uncovered the suspects attempting to take the exam on behalf of others. A case has been registered at Mobina Town Police Station under Section 420 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

The complaint, filed by the supervising professor, also implicated facilitators Kamran Haider and Mukhtar in the case.

Strict Measures for MDCAT Retake
Earlier, the MDCAT 2024 retake was conducted across Sindh under stringent security arrangements. Over 38,000 students participated in the three-and-a-half-hour exam held at various centers, including NED University and Karachi University.

IBA Sukkur, responsible for organizing the retest as per court orders, confirmed the exam included 200 multiple-choice questions.

Entry Points for Facilitation
To facilitate students, designated entry points were established at major centers:

  • Karachi University: Metroville Gate, Maskan Gate, and Shaikh Zaid Gate
  • IBA Sukkur: Gate No. 3
  • Mehran University, Jamshoro: Gate No. 2
  • Hyderabad Public School, Latifabad: Central Gate
  • Police Training School, Larkana: Main Gate

Candidates were instructed to avoid bringing electronic devices, including mobile phones and smartwatches. Original Admit Slips and one of the following documents were mandatory for verification:

  • CNIC
  • Juvenile Card
  • Passport
  • Matriculation Marksheet
  • Intermediate Marksheet

Dr. Asif Shaikh, Vice-Chancellor of IBA Sukkur, assured that the test was conducted transparently, with no instances of cheating or paper leaks. He emphasized that stringent security and specialized teams were deployed to ensure fairness and integrity in the process.
