ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday strongly rejected the baseless allegations and unfounded claims made by India’s Defense Minister and Chief of Army Staff on January 13 and 14 regarding Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan.
In an official statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan emphasized that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized disputed territory, whose final status must be determined in line with United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. “India has no legal or moral basis to make fictitious claims over the territories of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan,” he stated.
The spokesperson added that such rhetoric by Indian leadership cannot divert global attention from the grave human rights violations and repressive measures in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). These actions continue to suppress the legitimate struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination.
“Pakistan further highlights that provocative statements of this nature undermine regional peace and stability. Rather than making baseless accusations, India should introspect and address its documented involvement in targeted killings, acts of subversion, and state-sponsored terrorism in foreign territories,” the statement concluded.
