PTI Founder Calls for Bail and Release of Party Leaders and Workers

ISLAMABAD: Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Salman Akram Raja revealed that Imran Khan has urged the federal government to release PTI workers and leaders, according to ARY News.

In an appearance on ARY News’ Off The Record, Salman Akram Raja stated that PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan met with PTI founder Imran Khan, who instructed him to raise the issue of forming a judicial commission during the third session of talks with the government committee.

Imran Khan also emphasized that if the government refuses to establish a judicial commission, PTI will not participate in the fourth round of discussions. He reiterated that his main concern is the release of PTI leaders and workers and maintained that the charges against him are false and will be dismissed in court.

Regarding discussions with National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Salman Akram Raja noted that PTI members engage with the Speaker since he heads the talks committee. However, Ayaz Sadiq is aware of PTI’s current position, and the party has communicated its readiness for the next round of talks.

Earlier, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq responded to PTI leaders’ criticism, explaining that his role is to facilitate dialogue between the government and opposition, not to arrange meetings with Imran Khan. He expressed disappointment over the criticism directed at his office, stating that he has always kept his doors open to any member of the Assembly and has never refused a meeting.

Sadiq reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening parliamentary supremacy and facilitating government-opposition discussions. He also offered to arrange an immediate committee meeting if both sides agreed.

This response follows concerns that political talks were stalling, as evidenced by recent statements after the second round of negotiations. Additionally, the delay in granting PTI leaders permission to visit Adiala Jail to meet with their party leader further fueled the impression that progress was hindered.
