PTI requests approval for a rally at Minar-e-Pakistan on February 8.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has formally requested permission from the Lahore deputy commissioner’s (DC) office to hold a rally at Greater Iqbal Park (Minar-e-Pakistan) on February 8.

PTI leader Alia Hamza submitted the application, asserting the party’s right to conduct public gatherings like other political parties.

Speaking to the media, she stated that February 8 symbolizes the “theft of the people’s mandate” and that PTI plans to observe it as a “black day.” She criticized the repeated enforcement of Section 144 whenever PTI announces rallies, questioning why other parties are granted approvals while PTI faces restrictions.

“Every party is allowed to hold rallies at Minar-e-Pakistan, so why not us?” Alia Hamza remarked, adding that even if permission is denied, PTI will still mark ‘black day’ nationwide and pursue legal action against the decision.

Meanwhile, party leadership has directed workers to start preparations for the gathering. Sources suggest that if authorities reject their request, PTI will seek intervention from the courts.
