KARACHI:
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has shared promising news for Punjab, forecasting substantial rainfall, hailstorms, and strong winds throughout the province.
According to the PMD, a low-pressure system has entered Pakistan from the west, bringing the possibility of strong winds in Lahore today, followed by rain tomorrow.
Lahore’s current temperature is 31°C, with a potential peak of 39°C.
In light of rain predictions until July 1, the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert across the province.
PDMA has cautioned about possible urban flooding in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Narowal, and has informed local administrations accordingly.
The increase in solar panel installations calls for precautionary measures during severe storms.
Flood-prone districts are advised to clear rivers and canals and to avoid crossing them during heavy rains or flood situations. Additionally, strict enforcement of laws prohibiting swimming in rivers and canals is advised.
This alert is issued to ensure preparedness, with rescue agencies and drainage authorities urged to remain on high alert, according to DG PDMA.
The public is advised to follow government instructions and contact the PDMA helpline at 1129 for emergencies.
