Rescue Operation in Progress for Miners Trapped in Sanjdi

QUETTA: A rescue operation, led by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), is currently underway to save miners trapped in the Sanjdi coal mine near Quetta.

According to the PDMA, four bodies have been recovered out of the 12 miners trapped, while efforts continue to locate the remaining eight.

Rescue teams have managed to clear debris up to a depth of 3,600 feet to access the affected area. The incident occurred on Thursday when an explosion caused the collapse of the coal mine, trapping 12 miners.

A similar tragedy occurred in March 2024, when 18 miners were trapped in a coal mine in Harnai, Balochistan.
