KARACHI: The family of Sarim, a young boy whose body was discovered in a water tank 11 days after he went missing, staged a sit-in protest on the main road in North Karachi, demanding justice for their son’s murder.
Sarim’s body was recovered from an underground water tank, and the post-mortem report confirmed he had been subjected to torture and sexual abuse.
The protesters, including Sarim’s grieving parents, called for the immediate arrest of the perpetrator and urged authorities to take swift action. They expressed frustration over the lack of progress in the case, which has now been transferred back to the Bilal Colony police station.
Sarim’s parents vowed to continue their protest until justice is served. They also alleged that police demanded money to use tracker dogs during the investigation.
The protest was eventually called off after police assured the family of a thorough and fair investigation.

Meanwhile, the search for Sarim’s killer is ongoing. DNA samples from five suspects in custody have been sent to Karachi University’s laboratory for analysis.
Police officials stated that the investigation team consulted with doctors regarding the initial post-mortem findings and gathered their insights on the collected evidence.
The case now hinges on the results of the DNA analysis and chemical examination report, which are expected to provide critical breakthroughs. The final post-mortem report will be issued after the chemical examination is complete.
Sarim’s family had reported him missing, fearing abduction, after he failed to return from a madrasa near his home on January 7.
