‘Trust deficit’ stalls third round of PTI-government negotiations

Negotiations between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have stalled, with no progress on arranging the third round of discussions.

Sources indicate that the lack of a written Charter of Demands from PTI is the main obstacle to moving forward.

There has been no communication from either side with the Speaker’s office to schedule the next round of talks.

After meeting with the party founder, PTI is expected to finalize its stance on the Charter of Demands.

However, the government is unwilling to proceed without this document, considering it essential for formal discussions.

According to sources, the government insists that if PTI demands a written Charter, it will also expect a formal written agreement from the opposition party.

PTI, on the other hand, sees the request for a written Charter as akin to an NRO-like agreement, further complicating the negotiations.
