The HBL PSL 2025 player draft took place on Monday at the Huzoori Bagh in Lahore Fort, with several prominent players selected to strengthen team squads for the upcoming season.
New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell was the first pick, selected by the Lahore Qalandars to boost their batting lineup. Mitchell, with 70 T20I appearances, will make his HBL PSL debut later this year.
In the second pick, 2020 PSL champions Karachi Kings secured Australian batter David Warner, whose extensive T20 career includes over 12,700 runs from 392 T20 matches. Warner will also debut in PSL 2025.
Peshawar Zalmi exercised the Right to Match option for Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who had been picked by Quetta Gladiators. Kohler-Cadmore has been a key player for Zalmi in recent seasons. The Gladiators also selected New Zealand’s Mark Chapman, a versatile player with 81 T20I appearances.
The Platinum round ended with Multan Sultans selecting Michael Bracewell and Islamabad United choosing Matthew Short. Bracewell, with 149 T20 matches, and Short, known for his explosive batting, will add depth to their respective teams.
In the second Platinum round, Quetta Gladiators and Karachi Kings made notable selections. The Gladiators picked all-rounder Faheem Ashraf and aggressive opener Finn Allen, while Karachi bolstered their pace attack with Adam Milne and Mohammad Abbas Afridi, a standout performer in the 2023 PSL season.
The Diamond round saw Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United, and Lahore Qalandars secure valuable overseas players. Zalmi picked Corbin Bosch, Islamabad added Jason Holder, and Lahore strengthened their squad with Sri Lanka’s Kusal Perera. Zalmi further boosted their pace department with Bangladesh’s Nahid Rana, and Islamabad signed Australian bowler Ben Dwarshuis.
In the Silver round, Lahore Qalandars selected Bangladesh’s Rishad Hossain, and Islamabad United picked Andries Gous from the United States. Multan Sultans added Irish pacer Josh Little and West Indian spinner Gudakesh Motie.
