Pakistan strengthens hold as England falters on Day 4 of the Multan Test

Pakistan tightened their grip on the second Test in Multan as England struggled at 37/3 on Day 4, chasing a daunting target of 297. Pakistan’s spinners, Sajid Khan and Noman Ali, made early inroads in the morning session, putting England on the back foot.

Sajid Khan struck twice, dismissing Ollie Pope for 22 off 38 balls with a sharp caught-and-bowled. Pope had briefly resisted alongside Joe Root, but his wicket has left England in trouble. Sajid’s impressive spell stands at 6.2-0-27-2, while Noman Ali also contributed by removing opener Ben Duckett, leaving England reeling at 37/3.

Starting the day needing 260 runs for victory, England now faces a tough challenge as Pakistan’s spinners generate significant turn and bounce on the fourth-day pitch. Joe Root remains at the crease with 12 runs from 26 balls, but with 260 runs still required and only seven wickets in hand, England will need a remarkable effort to avoid defeat.

With over 88 overs left in the day, the match is delicately poised, though Pakistan remains in control as their bowlers maintain relentless pressure.
