Rizwan says efforts are ongoing to determine the “best” combination for the Champions Trophy.

Pakistan’s white-ball captain, Mohammad Rizwan, stated on Saturday that efforts are being made to identify the “best” team combination for the upcoming Champions Trophy, which will be held next year in Pakistan.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of the first ODI against Zimbabwe, Rizwan emphasized the significance of the series, noting that it provides an opportunity to assess the team’s bench strength. “The series against Zimbabwe is crucial for us, and our goal will be to test our bench strength,” he explained.

Rizwan expressed confidence in the team’s performance, adding, “We are excited to showcase our talent against Zimbabwe. It will be a challenging series, especially with many young players in our squad.” He remained optimistic that Pakistan would discover future stars during the series.

Regarding the pitch conditions in Zimbabwe, Rizwan remarked, “When playing in foreign conditions, it’s hard to predict how the pitch will behave. We must accept the challenges like professionals.”

He also acknowledged the contribution of interim head coach Aaqib Javed, highlighting his experience as both a coach and a player, particularly his role in Pakistan’s 1992 World Cup victory.

Pakistan is set to play their first ODI against Zimbabwe tomorrow (Sunday).
