The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming a widely discussed topic among researchers, academicians, and practitioners. Educational institutions are now focusing on training teachers to integrate AI into their teaching practices. However, there is a significant lack of research on how teachers are trained to use AI effectively. This systematic review aims to address this gap by identifying the challenges and best practices in training teachers to utilize AI. Strict inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied to select relevant studies for the review. The synthesis of 10 studies explored key themes such as the significance of AI, its application by teachers, challenges encountered by both teachers and trainers, and effective practices for AI training programs. The findings revealed that teachers’ lack of motivation to adopt AI is the most significant challenge for trainers. To address this, training programs should be designed to be engaging, tailored to individual needs, and emphasize the importance of AI in education. Additionally, providing teachers with hands-on experience using the latest AI technologies during training sessions is essential. This review offers valuable insights for AI trainers to create personalized training programs that address the specific challenges teachers face. By understanding these challenges, trainers can develop more effective AI training programs for educators, ensuring both practical and motivational support.
