The government has taken a significant step in advancing its Electric Vehicles (EV) Policy by announcing the installation of EV charging stations at all petrol pumps in Islamabad.
In the fourth meeting on the EV Policy, led by Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain, progress on various initiatives was reviewed. The minister instructed the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to ensure the installation of charging stations at every petrol pump in the capital and praised the authority’s efforts.
Rana Tanveer also revealed plans to provide free electric bikes to the top 120 students from the Federal Board. Additionally, the government intends to offer subsidized loans for 39,000 electric bikes and 19,000 electric rickshaws to encourage EV adoption.
The meeting also focused on the establishment of 40 charging stations along motorways and national highways and highlighted the importance of digitalizing the entire process to ensure transparency. Minister Hussain reiterated the Prime Minister’s vision to turn Islamabad into a model city.
An official statement confirmed that the EV Policy will be formally announced in the near future.
