Netflix Unveils Major Update for ‘Squid Game: Unleashed’ Season 2
Netflix has shared the content roadmap for its mobile game Squid Game: Unleashed Season 2, which introduces new characters from the latest season of the hit show.
Starting this Friday, players will be able to participate in the Mingle game, a deadly challenge from the show that claimed the lives of many contestants in just a few rounds.
The game will also feature three characters from Squid Game Season 2, including rapper Thanos (Player 230), and the mother-son duo Geuma-ja (Player 149) and Yong-sik (Player 007).
Additionally, the Red Light Challenge by Thanos and the Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event will be part of Season 2 in Squid Game: Unleashed.
Reports indicate that the game was developed by Netflix, with input from the show’s original production team. It draws heavily from scripts for both Season 2 and the upcoming third and final season of Squid Game.
While the roadmap for Season 2 of the game has been revealed, plans for Squid Game Season 3 are already in motion, set to release later this year. Netflix has made Squid Game: Unleashed available for free, even to non-subscribers.
Meanwhile, Squid Game Season 2 has made history as the first series to debut at No. 1 in all 93 countries where Netflix is available. The season aims to surpass its predecessor as Netflix’s most-watched series ever.
Created by Hwang Dong-hyuk in 2009, Squid Game took 10 years to gain funding for its production, which expanded Netflix’s foreign programming. The nine-episode first season, released in 2021, became Netflix’s most-watched non-English series, accumulating over two billion hours viewed and 265 million total views.
