FPSC Releases Results for Special CSS 2023 Written Exam

In December, the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) announced the results for the Special CSS Written Exam 2023. Out of 21,947 candidates who applied, 15,245 appeared for the exam, with 519 successfully passing. The overall success rate was 3.4%. The exam, conducted from October 12 to 20, 2023, is the first stage in the selection process, with final merit and seat allocations to be decided after the interview stage.

Earlier in May, the FPSC released the results for the CSS Examination 2023, revealing a success rate of 2.96%. This was a notable improvement from the 1.85% success rate recorded in 2022. A total of 210 candidates passed, including 126 males and 84 females. Out of the 13,008 candidates who sat for the written exam, only 401 managed to pass. After the rigorous assessment process, 210 candidates were recommended for appointment.

The top three positions were secured by Adil Riaz, Shaher Bano, and Okasha Abrar Rana, with all the top 12 candidates choosing the Pakistan Administrative Service. In terms of regional representation, eight of the top candidates were from Punjab, with notable achievements by candidates from other regions such as Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rural and urban Sindh, the merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (ex-FATA), and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The CSS exam, which includes six compulsory and six optional subjects, poses a significant challenge for candidates. Many struggle with time management during preparation, which affects their performance in certain subjects. Despite the FPSC providing a systematic syllabus and recommended materials, candidates often rely on local publications, hindering the development of the analytical skills necessary for success.
