PTA Streamlines VPN Registration for Commercial Use
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has simplified the VPN registration process, making it significantly easier for users.
In an announcement made on Saturday, PTA revealed the introduction of a new freelance category for the commercial use of VPNs in the country. A PTA spokesperson stated, “Anyone can now register for the commercial use of VPNs.”
The PTA clarified that applications for commercial VPN use could be submitted under this new freelance category. IT companies, banks, and freelancers are encouraged to register for VPN access. Members of the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) can also benefit from this service. To date, over 20,000 companies and freelancers have successfully registered for VPN use.
To complete the registration, applicants must fill out an online form, providing basic details. Freelancers are also required to submit proof of their affiliation with a project or company. Additionally, applicants need to provide an IP address to facilitate VPN connectivity.
The PTA confirmed that the VPN registration process is free, and approvals are typically processed within eight to ten working hours.
