SUKKUR – Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced on Saturday that the provincial government will distribute 500,000 solar systems to deserving individuals across Sindh.
Speaking at the Sindh Solar Energy Project ceremony, he highlighted the PPP chairman’s vision of alleviating hardships for the underprivileged. He stated that the PPP initiated the solarization project in 2012, aiming to shield the masses from rising electricity costs.
Shah further elaborated that the Sindh government, in collaboration with the World Bank, has structured the project into three key segments: transitioning government buildings to solar energy, converting schools and hospitals to solar power, and providing solar systems to low-income households. He revealed that 200,000 people fall under this third category, emphasizing the government’s commitment to achieving this goal.
The chief minister assured that all eligible individuals across Sindh’s districts would receive support under the BISP initiative. He also mentioned that by 2026, 2.1 million houses would be completed, ensuring people are not left vulnerable during natural calamities like the 2022 floods.
Additionally, he noted that the government has collected 15,000 tons of debris from Karachi, which will be utilized to generate approximately 50KW of electricity.
