Turkish Video Game Industry Targets Japanese Market Through Collaboration with Major Players

Bilkent Cyberpark Facilitates Turkish Firms in Forming Strategic Partnerships with Capcom, Bandai Namco, and Sega

Turkish video game companies are making strides to enter the Japanese market through collaborations with major players in Japan’s gaming industry, including Capcom, Bandai Namco, and Deluxe Games Inc., as reported by a sector representative.

Faruk Inaltekin, General Manager of Bilkent Cyberpark, shared with Anadolu Agency that the Ankara-based technopark hosts annual international programs for its tech companies, which include around 320 Turkish firms specializing in software and hardware.

Inaltekin emphasized that their global initiatives heavily focus on the gaming industry, which has seen rapid growth worldwide in recent years.

He highlighted Bilkent Cyberpark’s participation in a gaming event in San Francisco in March, as well as their presence at Gamescom in Germany in August, where they showcased Turkish game developers.

Last month, the Japan-Türkiye Game Forum took place in Tokyo and Chiba, connecting Turkish and Japanese gaming companies to explore potential partnerships.

“Turkish video game developers met with Japanese firms to form strategic alliances aimed at boosting bilateral trade between the two countries. We also attended the Tokyo Game Show 2024, one of the industry’s largest events,” Inaltekin explained.

During the forum, Turkish firms held over 200 meetings with investors and industry leaders, including Sega, to explore collaboration opportunities.

The event provided valuable insights into global gaming trends and marketing strategies, particularly for entering the Japanese market, where gaming culture differs significantly from Western markets.

Inaltekin added that Bilkent Cyberpark plans to continue organizing such international programs to boost the competitiveness of Turkish gaming companies.
