President Zardari holds meeting with Turkish President Erdogan during Istanbul layover.

President Asif Ali Zardari met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a brief stopover in Istanbul while en route to Portugal.

The meeting took place at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport State Guesthouse before President Erdogan’s departure for Malaysia.

According to a statement from the President’s Press Wing in Islamabad, Zardari was received by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan upon arrival. The two leaders exchanged pleasantries before engaging in discussions on matters of mutual interest.

Their conversation focused on strengthening Pakistan-Turkiye relations, addressing shared concerns, and exploring opportunities for enhanced cooperation, as reported by Express News.

Both leaders emphasized the importance of their countries’ longstanding friendship and their commitment to regional peace and stability.

This diplomatic engagement comes as both nations seek to deepen ties in trade, defense, and cultural collaboration.

Meanwhile, President Zardari is visiting Portugal to offer condolences on the passing of Prince Karim Aga Khan.
