Canada is set to raise visa application fees, impacting various categories, including temporary resident status restoration, authorization to return, criminal rehabilitation for serious offenses, and Temporary Resident Permits (TRPs).
While Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has not yet revealed the exact fee increase details, a report from CIC News indicates that applicants who submit complete applications before the fee hike will typically avoid the new charges.
For online applicants, the process is immediate, and they are less likely to be affected by the fee changes. However, those submitting applications by mail may experience delays in processing. As long as the old fee is paid, and the application is submitted before the new fee structure is implemented, it will be processed at the previous rates. In case of additional fees, IRCC will guide applicants on how to proceed.
The fee increase is part of Canada’s broader effort to streamline immigration processing and manage rising operational costs. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications ahead of the fee change to avoid being impacted by the higher costs.
