WASHINGTON: Former President Donald Trump has clinched victory in the 2024 US presidential election, securing 277 electoral votes, according to a Fox News report.
His Democratic rival, Vice President Kamala Harris, has garnered 226 electoral votes.
Trump’s victory was bolstered by his win in the pivotal swing state of Pennsylvania, bringing him closer to the 270 electoral votes needed to claim the presidency.
Tesla CEO and Trump supporter Elon Musk celebrated the win, declaring, “The United States people have given a crystal-clear mandate to Trump.”
With 277 electoral votes, Trump is poised to lead the country for the next four years. He has secured victories in 23 states, including significant wins in Texas, Ohio, and the crucial battleground state of North Carolina.
Harris, on the other hand, has won 12 states, including major electoral prizes such as California, New York, and Washington, D.C.
The path to victory in the presidential race requires 270 electoral votes.
