IHC says US refusal to release Dr. Aafia highlights Pakistan’s position.

ISLAMABAD – Justice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq of the Islamabad High Court stated that the United States is undermining Pakistan’s global standing by refusing to release Dr. Aafia Siddiqui.

During the hearing of a petition for Dr. Aafia’s repatriation from a US prison, her sister Dr. Fouzia Siddiqui and US Attorney Clive Smith participated via video link.

Advocate Imran Shafiq and the additional attorney general also attended the session.

The court was informed that former US President Joe Biden had rejected Dr. Aafia’s clemency appeal and declined a prisoner exchange agreement with Pakistan.

Justice Ishaq remarked that while Biden pardoned his own son, he refused to release Dr. Aafia.

The Foreign Ministry presented reports on the diplomatic efforts, with the next hearing scheduled in two weeks.
