Pakistani Pilot and Indian Passenger Perish in UAE Plane Crash

DUBAI: A light aircraft crash in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) claimed the lives of a Pakistani female pilot and an Indian passenger.

The tragic incident occurred off the coast of Ras Al Khaimah city when a plane operated by Jazirah Aviation Club crashed into the sea, resulting in the deaths of both individuals onboard, according to Gulf media reports.

The victims were identified as a 26-year-old Pakistani female pilot and an Indian passenger, Dr. Sulaymaan Al Majid, a 26-year-old doctor.

The UAE Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the Pakistani pilot’s nationality but withheld additional details. The plane went down shortly after takeoff from a location near the beach. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

Jazirah Aviation Club is known for offering recreational flights, and Dr. Sulaymaan Al Majid had reportedly hired the aircraft for sightseeing.

South Korea’s Deadliest Air Disaster

In a separate aviation tragedy, South Korea witnessed its deadliest air accident, with 179 fatalities, when an airliner crash-landed and burst into flames at Muan International Airport.

The Jeju Air flight 7C2216, arriving from Bangkok, Thailand, carried 175 passengers and six crew members. The plane attempted to land shortly after 9 a.m. local time, but skidded off the runway and crashed into navigation equipment and a wall, igniting a massive fireball.

Two crew members survived the crash and are receiving medical treatment.

This accident marks the worst air disaster on South Korean soil in nearly three decades. Local media footage showed the twin-engine Boeing 737-800 skidding without visible landing gear before the collision.

“Only the tail part retains a little bit of shape; the rest of the plane is almost unrecognizable,” said Muan Fire Chief Lee Jung-hyun during a press briefing.
