BEIJING: President Asif Ali Zardari met with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing today.
During the meeting, both leaders reviewed the positive trajectory of Pakistan-China relations, discussed regional and global matters of mutual interest, and explored ways to further enhance their strategic partnership through high-level exchanges. Emphasizing the enduring friendship between the two nations, they reaffirmed their commitment to supporting each other on key issues.
President Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering dedication to its All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership with China, highlighting the deep-rooted and time-tested ties between the two countries. He praised China’s remarkable development and progress, crediting it to the visionary leadership of President Xi and the resilience of the Chinese people.

Commending China’s global contributions under the Belt & Road Initiative (BRI), President Zardari hailed the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as a model of win-win cooperation. Both sides discussed advancing CPEC 2.0 to enhance regional connectivity and shared prosperity, including potential collaborations with other nations. They also emphasized the importance of cultural and people-to-people exchanges in strengthening the China-Pakistan Community of Shared Future.
President Zardari extended a formal invitation to President Xi to visit Pakistan, expressing the deep respect and admiration the Pakistani people and government have for him as a visionary leader and a true friend.
Following the meeting, both leaders attended an MoU signing ceremony, witnessing agreements in key areas such as science & technology, media, clean energy, and socio-economic development.
Earlier, President Zardari received a warm welcome from President Xi, complete with a guard of honor. A group of children also extended a heartfelt reception to mark the occasion.
To conclude the visit, President Xi hosted a grand state banquet in honor of President Zardari and his delegation.
