Sara Sharif’s father, accused of her murder, ‘attacked in prison’

Sara Sharif’s Father Reportedly Attacked in Prison Weeks After Murder Conviction

Police are investigating reports that Urfan Sharif, the father of Sara Sharif, was assaulted in prison shortly after being jailed for the murder of his 10-year-old daughter.

According to The Sun, Sharif was attacked on New Year’s Day by two fellow inmates at HMP Belmarsh. He reportedly sustained cuts to his face and received medical treatment within the prison. The alleged weapon used in the attack was part of a tuna can.

Sharif, 43, and Sara’s stepmother, Beinash Batool, were sentenced to life imprisonment last month at the Old Bailey for Sara’s murder at their home in Woking, Surrey.

Official Statements

A spokesperson for the Prison Service confirmed:
“Police are investigating an assault on a prisoner at HMP Belmarsh on 1 January. It would be inappropriate to comment further while the investigation is ongoing.”

The Metropolitan Police also stated:
“Police are investigating an allegation that a 43-year-old prisoner was assaulted at HMP Belmarsh on 1 January. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.”

Belmarsh, a high-security Category A prison in south-east London, houses some of the UK’s most dangerous offenders.

Tragic Case of Sara Sharif

Sara Sharif’s body was discovered in August 2023 at her family’s home. She had endured two years of abuse, including being hooded, burned, and beaten in what was described as a “campaign of torture.”

Urfan Sharif was sentenced to a minimum of 40 years for her murder. His wife, Beinash Batool, 30, received a minimum of 33 years, while Sara’s uncle, Faisal Malik, 29, was sentenced to 16 years for causing or allowing her death.

The trio fled to Islamabad, Pakistan, with Sara’s five siblings the day before her body was discovered, triggering an international manhunt.
