Trump speaks with Saudi Crown Prince in first call with a foreign leader since returning to the White House.

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman became the first foreign leader to hold a phone call with US President Donald Trump following his return to office for a second term.

The decision to prioritize this conversation highlights the Trump administration’s focus, with the president expressing his intent to expand the Abraham Accords through a potential normalization agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia.

This agreement is expected to include a major defense deal, offering Saudi Arabia US security guarantees in the event of an attack, alongside significant investments in the American economy.

According to Saudi state media, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman informed Trump of plans to increase Saudi investments in the US to $600 billion over the next four years, with potential for further expansion “if additional opportunities arise.”

Trump, in turn, expressed eagerness to work with Riyadh to promote mutual interests, as noted in the Saudi readout. However, the White House has not yet issued its own statement on the call.
