US enforces new sanctions on Pakistan’s ballistic missile program.

The United States announced new sanctions on Wednesday against four entities linked to Pakistan’s ballistic missile program.

The sanctions aim to prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their delivery systems, citing concerns over Pakistan’s long-range missile development.

The US Department of State identified the sanctioned entities as Pakistan’s National Development Complex, responsible for overseeing the ballistic missile program, along with Affiliates International, Akhtar and Sons Private Limited, and Rockside Enterprise. These entities are accused of providing equipment and missile-related items to Pakistan’s missile program and contributing to the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.

The sanctions were enforced under Executive Order (EO) 13382, which targets individuals and entities involved in the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and their delivery systems.

The State Department reaffirmed its commitment to countering activities that pose significant proliferation risks.

This move follows earlier sanctions imposed in September 2023 on a Chinese research institute and companies assisting Pakistan’s missile program, as well as additional sanctions in October 2023 on China-based firms supplying missile-related items to Pakistan.

The US has emphasized its determination to continue taking action against activities that support Pakistan’s development and deployment of long-range missiles.
