In a historic moment for India, the country has welcomed its first ‘Generation Beta‘ baby, a boy born at Synod Hospital in Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, just after midnight on New Year’s Day.

The baby, named Frankie Remruatdika Zadeng, arrived at 12:03 AM, marking the beginning of a new era. Weighing just over three kilograms, the newborn is reported to be in good health with no complications, according to hospital staff.

What is a ‘Beta’ baby?

‘Generation Beta’ refers to children born between 2025 and 2039, following Generation Z and Millennials. This generation is expected to grow up in a world dominated by technological advancements and digital connectivity.

Futurist Mark McCrindle coined the term, predicting that Beta babies will be immersed in artificial intelligence, digital tools, and groundbreaking medical developments. Experts suggest that this generation will be “digitally fluent” from birth, with access to technologies that will transform education, career paths, and health. They may also experience major medical breakthroughs, including cures for diseases once considered untreatable.
