Why Pakistanis are concerned about beggars traveling abroad to seek alms

The world is alarmed as Pakistani beggars increasingly flock to foreign cities. This week, Saudi Arabia urged Pakistan to stop beggars from exploiting Umrah visas to reach the holy cities of Mecca and Medina for panhandling. This rising trend of visa abuse has sparked concerns among Pakistanis, including legitimate visa applicants.

Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Religious Affairs cautioned that if the issue is not addressed, it could adversely impact Pakistani pilgrims for Umrah and Hajj, as reported by Pakistan’s Express Tribune.
